Class 16 Progress

I began by getting a better track of the camera by trying to level it in Nuke before importing into Maya.




After importing to Maya, I checked for the scale of the camera and locators. The model was much larger than the scene, therefore I had to scale it down by .002.



Then I rendered the first playbast of the animation, so there can be a better idea of the location and sizing of the model.



After, I am currently trying to set up both the chrome and grey ball for lighting. So I added the geodome with the HDR and scaled it so that it was larger than the image plane for the camera.




Chrome ball and geodome is working, but needs to be tweaked!

4. Would make it Demo Reel Worthy

  • Slime

    • Slime FX Animation

      • Mostly Cleanup

    • Slime Texture

      • Have basic texture down

        • Need tweaking


1. Basic Texture is needed

  • Model (High Pressure!)

    • Texture on model

      • Can do basic shading on clothes

      • Maybe use previous texture map on face

        • Don’t really see the face, so don’t need as much detail


5. Need it for best integration

  • Lighting

    • Maya

      • Need gray ball

      • Correctly set up HDRI (geodome)

    • Houdini

      • Need gray ball

      • Set up HDRI (rs lightdome?)

      • Set up shadows here if possible

        • If not import animation as abc or fbx to get shadows in maya

  • Render Layers needed

    • Model

      • Maya - Textured and rendered in maya

    • Slime

      • Textured and rendered in Houdini

    • Shadow

      • First try in Houdini

      • Back up in Maya

  • Compositing in Nuke

    • Breaking into AOVS

    • Tweaking color management

      • things rendered in redshifts matches with the things rendered in arnold match along with the plate

  1. Would like to have

  • Colorgrading plate to make it more interesting

Current task list

  • Get fbx or fbx of the animation and the import it into houdini to rerun the simulation

    • Nothing needs to be rebuilt, just run again so that is in the correct place

    • Get camera into the houdini scene

  • Needed for basic renders for integration and slap comp

    • For correct shadows

      • Lighting in maya (for prelim integration)

        • Gray ball

      • Lighting in Houdini

        • Gray ball
