As we begin Project 1, I have started on a practice project. The first task was to match the perspective of a cube to the cube within an image. This will set the perspective space of the cg space.
First I had to choose my image which was this image containing a shadow on some stairs. Then I had to create a camera within Maya that would act as a render cam. Then, I created an image plane within the camera and looked through said camera.

I added a cube. Before doing anything else, I changed my preferences within the program from centimeters to inches to act as my unit of measurement. Then, I scaled up the cube to be 4 inches by 4 inches to match it to the cube that was used in the photo.

Then, I turned on wireframe and tried to match the cg cube to the cube within the plate as accurately as I can without any rotation.

Without rotation, the cube was a little off, rotating z is necessary to match the cube more appropriately. It is a constant back and forth to get as close as possible.

This is the beginning of the practice and I will continue tweaking it to more accurately match the plate.
