Going into week 7, I was responsible for adding variation of the leaves to finish off the animation of the vine to give to Xander before rendering.
This was our final clean-cut of the week and our goal was to get to about 85% finished adding in all the components.
Adding Variation of Leaves on Vines
To aid the process of created the animated leaves on the vine stalk, I loosely followed this technique while adding what I knew, because of the changes made in the new Houdini verisons
.The process of adding geometry onto the stalk of the vine is slightly different from creating the animated vine from curves. I received the leaf geometry from Emma. Before using a copy to points method to have the leaves pop up or grow in the same time as the animated stalk.
R&D with RBDS and the metahand that was given
Our team have been trying different techniques to lay the flower naturally at the palm of her hand in shot 3. The first technique used was the compositing technique that Hannah tried. This technique can be seen used in our clean cut. It was not as natural as we wanted it, so the other option was to use the meta human, similarly to the stalk technique, to make the flower into an RBD or Vellum object to have it sit on the hand. These were a couple of my quick test to see potential issues. Automatically, the alembic file that I downloaded was the rig file that completely shattered when it was made into the RBD object that collided with the hand. If I packed it or remeshed it, it would ignore the collision.
